London, England, October 24, 2009 – England’s rugby team gave its followers the best pick-me-up ever by winning the world championship title, defeating Timbuktu in a hard fought match.
The game that’s the latest craze in England got even more popular after this famous victory.
What is SIM rugby? Ball rugby played with a SIM card instead of the oval pigskin. Players believe it is addictive and that it takes a lot of willpower to let go of the SIM once they get their hands on it. The game calls for a lot of teamwork, especially when a teammate lets the SIM drop, because then it needs the whole team’s effort to locate it in the grass. The unique thing about SIM rugby is that it is a truly free flowing game, resulting in fewer injuries to the players.
Robert “Bob” Babbington, inventor of the game and now its World President and Global Guardian-in-Chief of the United World-Wide Intra-Continental SIM Rugby Federation (or WPGGCUWWICSRF for short) can’t stop singing its praises: “SIM Rugby is like antimatter – we all know it’s there and it’s just a matter of time before it takes us all over and burns us from the inside.”
He believes that, just like everything else ball rugby can be improved. The latest version can take rugby to an altogether superior level not even imagined by classic rugby enthusiasts.
SIM rugby started off quietly: Some day in 2008, he forgets which one, Bob was absentmindedly chewing on some toast when he noticed the piece he had bitten into had am amazing SIM card-like shape. Taking out his real SIM card, he could not but wonder at its engineering excellence. That afternoon he took his SIM card to the game of rugby that he was playing. As a sort of pre-match warm up, Bob and a couple of teammates tossed his SIM card around. They thought it flew through the air like a Frisbee-cum-spaceship-cum-kingfisher. The three teammates knew that that was it; it was the start of a new era.
SIM rugby is all about passing it on and Bob wants to share some passes with you. The Billy Pass, the Cheese Pass, the Frisbee Pass and the Giraffe Pass can be learned by looking them up at the website given below.
Is this game as addictive as claimed? Take Bob, for instance. He’s so passionate about SIM rugby everything else, including his wife, is a distant second. SIM rugby is on his mind day and night and Bob hallucinates of the day when every single man, woman and child on the planet will be a SIM rugby player.
For now England are the reigning world champions but Timbuktu have sought a rematch.
The skyrocketing popularity of SIM rugby has seen a number of companies interested in sponsoring the England national team, but O2 has obtained the rights to pay for advancement of the game in England.
